Valentine bunny heart treats are the perfect gift to show your precious four legged family members just how much you care!

Do you have a special four legged family member? I have 6… hmmmm that is 24 paws! Luckily it is still only 6 mouths. For those of you that don’t know me, I love bunnies! I consider them family and they live inside my house, able to run around free while I am home. Rabbits are a terrific pet whether for a family with small kids, an older couple or a single person. They can easily be litterbox trained (which is so nice on snowy winter or rainy days). Bunnies are very social and love to play. They are loving and affectionate and even bunnies that may have come from a previous situation where they were abandoned or neglected, love to have little rubs between their ears.
A bunny’s daily diet consists of greens, pellets and lots of hay and water. Occasionally it is nice to give them a treat, especially something made from the heart! Rabbits can have fresh fruits now and then, but they, along with some vegetables are high in sugar and are not an ideal treat. Many store bought treats are not healthy so I decided to start making my own.
I cook for my family so I can put healthy natural ingredients into our food and I do the same for my pets. These valentine bunny heart treats are just one of the many treats I do make and my 6 love them!
The Method of Valentine Bunny Heart Treats
My Valentine bunny heart treats uses a basic recipe of ground oats + ground pellets + a binder. Today I had a banana on hand, but canned real pumpkin or all natural applesauce are great options too.
Mash the banana, stir in the oats and pellets and form a dough. Roll out to about 1/2 inch thickness. Heart shaped cookie cutters are so fun for Valentine’s Day! Carefully transfer the cookies to a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Bake at 250 for 45 minutes. Then place in a dehydrator until hard.

Decorating Valentine Bunny Hearts Treats
After baking comes the fun part! I used a glaze of organic sugar free baby food. Then I added “sprinkles” of crushed freeze dried sugar free strawberries. Lastly I added a rose petal garnish to each cookie.
