The power of a vision board can help clarify your goals and motivate yourself to achieve them by using inspiring pictures and text.

What Is A Vision Board?
Have you ever heard the saying “You are the creator of your own reality”? Every experience we have shapes us with the lessons we learn. A vision board is a powerful tool used to create a vision we can then implement into our daily lives. Martin Luther King, Jr’s iconic “I have a dream” speech relayed his hope and vision for a new reality. If you haven’t made a vision board before, this MLK holiday would be a great time to create one.
What it is not-something magical. Does it actually work? YES! We attract what want, and what we don’t want, based upon our thoughts. By creating a board full of loving, joyful visuals true to our desires, we are programming ourselves to think good thoughts and sending those thoughts out into the universe for manifestation.

I was introduced to my first vision board years ago by Gabriella of Soul-Getters, a spiritual mentor….or so I thought! Looking back though it dawned on me that I made them all the time in college. As an interior design major I had to create project boards which basically are an organized board of thoughts and ideas. Again it is a tool used to manifest the inspiration projected to a client. Businesses like architects, designers and event planners use them all the time to complete projects. I never thought I would use one on a personal basis.
Vision boards are so fun to make! It is a visual affirmation of what we imagine our life to be. I create my vision board on New Year’s Day, but there is no right time to do it. A birthday is another special time and I have also done monthly vision boards in a notebook as well.

Ideas and Inspirations
Supplies needed:
- A board for your base: foam core, a cork board, poster board or even a notebook. You can also do it digitally!
- Scissors.
- Depending on your base: pushpins, tape, glue, glue dots, or clips to secure images.
- Magazine images, photo’s, quotes or words.
- Objects that resonate with you and your goal that can be placed on your board.
- Art supplies: Stickers, markers, glitter, paint, washi tape or any other extras you want to add.
The Process
First, give thanks for all you have and set your intention. Play some soothing music and light a candle to help the creativity flow.
There is no wrong or right way to assemble your board. Make it personally appealing, but not chaotic. I have read about people dividing their boards up into sections and labeling them per goals or life topics. Do whatever makes you happy. I like to place everything down until it looks pleasing to me before the next step.

Finally glue everything to your board. You can leave open spaces in case you would like to add to it throughout the year. Then embellish! Make it pretty with stickers, bows, glitter or anything else!
You can frame your board if it is flat, but if it has anything raised up you may need to keep it as is or use a frame without glass.

How To Use Your Vision Board
Now that you are done crafting your board, place it in a prominent spot so you can see it and be inspired every day. Seeing it regularly will help you to visualize your goals, wishes and values. Speaking your intentions is a powerful way to keep them alive and to help manifest them. Read your affirmations and inspirational words aloud at least twice a day.
