This DIY Summer Garden Wreath will bring a bright and cheery splash of color to your front door!

Wreaths of any size, design, color or shape are a fun way to dress up an entryway, gate or any door within your home. They can be beautiful, whimsical, traditional or based on a theme. Wreaths can be changed seasonally, monthly or for each holiday. Whether you are making a statement, adding a pop of color or celebrating something special, a wreath is the perfect way to refresh any living space.
Designing and creating a summer garden wreath is not only fun, but is very personal. If it seems daunting and scary, trust me it is not. A wreath can be perfectly imperfect and still look incredible! The first thing you need to do is choose your design elements. Color, style and form are all important. Start by looking at your front door. What color is it? What color wreath will “pop” against it? Do you have a shape in mind? What are your favorite flowers? Try to envision your garden on your door.
The Method of A Summer Garden Wreath
This summer garden wreath cost me less than $10 and about an hour of my time. I am a big proponent of saving and reusing craft supplies. The grapevine wreath was previously decorated for autumn. I carefully removed the embellishments and packed them away for next fall!
supplies needed:
- grapevine wreath
- garden gloves (Dollar Tree)
- seed packets (Dollar Tree)
- terracotta pot
- cute sign (Dollar Tree)
- burlap ribbon (Walmart)
- colored ribbon (Dollar Tree)
- silk flowers in various colors and sizes
- moss
- scissors
- floral wire
- glue gun

directions:
When making a summer garden wreath, start by wrapping the burlap ribbon around the grapevine wreath. Secure by gluing the two ends together where they meet. Next, find where you want to place your sign and glue that down. (All wreaths are slightly different in shape and size so yours may look a little different). Glue the gloves together then on to the wreath.

Now play around with the flowers. I tucked mine into the vines up the right side. No glue needed! Then take the seed packets and artfully arrange them then glue down.
Make your bow for the top of the wreath and add a little flower to embellish the center. Last but not least, nestle the clay pot just above the gloves and glue securely. Place a flower and some moss inside the pot.

Designer’s Notes:
Tips for success:
Gather and prepare all supplies before beginning. Remove price tags, plug in the glue gun, and cut flowers from the stems.
project variations:
Can’t find a sign? Make one! The dollar store has unpainted shapes, paint and brushes.
A picket fence would be cute in place of a sign!
Other embellishments: gardening tools, watering can, bucket, bird nests with faux eggs, silk butterflies or birds.
