Rejuvenate with mint using this handy trick on a hot summer day!

“We’re having a heatwave…a tropical heatwave” and yes just like the song says, we truly are having a heatwave. Have you been trying to stay cool these past 3 days of over 90 degree heat with no end in sight? A cold refreshing lemonade (or my prickly pear margarita!), ice cream cones, air conditioning and swimming are all great ways to beat the heat, but I have a simple way guaranteed to make you feel like new!
Mint….It’s not just for food! Fresh mint is an aromatic herb that has a wonderful scent, a cooling sensation and a definitive flavor profile. I am not real partial to actually eating mint although I grow it annually in my garden. I use it mainly as a garnish or to muddle in cocktails, but this is by far my favorite way to use it! Pairing it with an icy cold towel is extremely refreshing.
The Method To Rejuvenate With Mint
Ingredients:
- clean towel
- water
- mint leaves
- plastic Ziploc bag or Saran Wrap
basic directions:
This could not be any easier to do. First, run the towel under cold water. Squeeze the excess water out. Next, randomly place washed mint leaves on the towel and roll it up. Place the towel in a Ziplock bag or Saran Wrap and refrigerate.

When you are in need of a refreshing pick me up, take the bag out of the fridge. Unroll the towel and discard the leaves. Rub the towel all over your face and hands for a minty cool down in the hot summer heat!
Design Notes:
tips for success:
Use a clean dish towel.
Make sure to clean the mint leaves prior to placing them on the towel.
If you need a towel quickly, you can put it in the freezer for 30 minutes.
Make several at a time so you always have one on hand.
variations:
Not a fan of mint? Try a different herb like thyme or rosemary or a delightful scented flower like lavender.
